Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter if you prefer
  • 1 pound steak
  • 250 grams fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 250 ml beef broth or use a stock cube dissolved in hot water
  • 125 grams creme fraiche
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • couple stalks of parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce leave out if you don't have it
  • 400 grams mafaldine pasta, cooked (or any pasta you like)

Instructions

  • Cut the steak into about 1 1/2×1/2-inch strips.
  • Heat a table spoon of olive oil or butter in a skillet and cook the steak strips over medium heat for about a minute until brown. Take it out of the skillet and set aside.
  • Add another table spoon olive oil in the same skillet and cook the mushrooms, onions and garlic over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender.
  • Lower the heat and add the table spoon of flour, stir well. Add the broth and stir . Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the creme fraiche and mustard. Stir until combined. Let it simmer for a couple of minutes. This will result in a slightly thick sauce. Add the Worcestershire sauce if you are using it.
  • Finally add the steak strips to the skillet, stir to combine and let it simmer for the last time for a couple of minutes.
  • Pour the sauce over your favorite pasta and enjoy!

Notes

I love to eat this with some pickled red onion. This gives it just a little extra.
