A delicious and flavorful family favorite from Croatia.

- 2 Onions finelly chopped
- 1 clove Garlic minced
- can Tomatoes 400 gram
- 1 kg Chicken breast I use chicken (boneless) breast because my family likes that
- 1 tsp Carraway seeds
- 1 dl White wine
- 3 tbsp Paprika powder
- Chicken stock enough to cover the chicken
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour
- Parsley finelly chopped
- 2 tsp Vegeta (croatian seasoning) or use a chicken stock cube or salt
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Dice the chicken.
- In a large pot over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the onions. Cook, stirring often, until the onions are tender, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add the chicken and carraway seeds and cook until the chicken is browned.
- Add the paprika powder and the flour and stir well until the chicken is coated.
- Add the tomatoes, wine and chicken broth. Season with vegeta and salt and pepper. Bring mixture to a simmer and cook until the chicken is cooked and the sauce thickened 30 minutes.
- Add the parsley and season to taste. Enjoy!
Notes
My family loves to eat it with spaghetti and cover it with Parmesan with a delicous salad on the side. It also goes well with potato puree or plain cooked potatoes.
Vegeta is Croatian seasoning that uplifts the taste of your food. I use it in a lot of dishes. Although it will not taste the same, you can replace it by salt or a stock cube.
